Since enough lather has already been produced, stir for another 45-60 seconds in the shaving bowl. Afterward, you should have reached the right consistency. Make sure that the lather is not too runny. If that happens, you can put the shaving soap back in the bowl and stir again so that the water and the shaving brush can pick up more lather from the shaving soap. If you do not notice any lather production at all, you need more water. After a few attempts, you will get a feel for how much water the shaving soap and the shaving brush need.

Now the lather is ready and you can distribute it on your face and beard. Make sure that every area is sufficiently covered with shaving lather. Let the mixed lather soak into your skin for a few minutes. This step softens your beard. This allows the safety razor or the straight razor to glide better over your skin. If there is no lather on the desired area, you should apply more shaving lather. Only in this way can you succeed in a gentle wet shave without skin irritation.

How to care for the shaving brush for long durability

In addition to your beard care, the care of your lathering tool should be just as important. If you don't do this, the shaving brush will suffer and won't last long. You will especially notice this in the brush bristles. When you are finished with your wet shave, you should rinse the shaving brush head thoroughly under running water. It is important not to apply pressure with your fingers between the synthetic fibers. You will damage them, and the individual fibers may fall out. This is because badgers are kept in miserable conditions and killed in China for the production of such shaving brushes.
