Shaving:
1. Lather the shaving foam with a little water.
2. Apply the foam and let it sit for a short moment.
3. Shave at a 30° angle without applying much pressure, following the direction of hair growth.
4. Rinse your face with cold water.
5. Briefly rinse the safety razor under water.

1. Moisten the alum block with a little water.
2. Rub onto the affected area.

Beginners to classic shaving often think that it is sufficient to choose the right razor for wet shaving. However, this is not true. For example, if you continue to use shaving foam from a can and do not take care of your skin after shaving, it can irritate your skin and lead to an uneven complexion. This is partly due to the fragrances and flavorings in canned shaving foam, and partly because any type of shaving irritates your skin. However, the advantage of classic shaving with a razor blade is that a single blade is much gentler on your skin than the usually five blades of the plastic heads on system razors. Many are mainly put off by the risk of injury. However, shaving with a safety razor is just as safe as shaving with a system razor. It all comes down to the right handling, and with a little practice, you will achieve a much more efficient and cleaner shave than with a system razor.
Also included in your shaving set with the safety razor in black is the alum block. This is a type of aluminum crystal that has a number of positive properties. Its main area of application is as a styptic pencil, which is especially helpful for beginners to classic shaving. Due to its astringent and anti-inflammatory effect, it effectively stops bleeding and disinfects the area as well. Furthermore, the alum block can be used both as a pre-shave and an aftershave. To do this, hold it briefly under cold water and rub it over the area to be shaved or over the shaved area after shaving. In addition to moisturizing, the alum block also pleasantly cools your skin, leaving it feeling very fresh. The alum block is also often used as a sustainable deodorant. Thanks to its antibacterial effect, it neutralizes sweat odor on the skin and tightens sweat pores to prevent further perspiration.
