Barber's tip: Applying or mixing both the water-based and oil-based pomades in a 50:50 ratio provides an extra long-lasting and very robust styling result. This mixture works wonders, especially on hotter days, and your hairstyle will hold exactly as it should! Mixing both pomades is also ideal for more stubborn hair types and flyaways.

The water-based pomade provides a somewhat harder, gel-like hold, while the oil-based pomade rounds off the hold and simultaneously gives the hair shine and the necessary care. Mixing the pomades ensures that the product hardens less in the hair, keeping the hairstyle flexibly restylable throughout the day.

Why should I mix oil-based and water-based pomade?

There are several reasons why mixing both pomade bases makes sense.

1. Mixing them prevents the pomades from hardening as much, keeping them more flexible for restyling throughout the day.
2. The mixture provides an extra-firm hold, which is ideal for stubborn or flyaway hair.
3. The mixture provides the necessary hold from the water-based pomade while simultaneously offering nourishment and a refined shine from the oil-based pomade.

How does the application work?

For styling, it is best if your hair is slightly damp. First, work a small amount of the oil-based pomade into your hair, followed by the water-based one. The mixture should have a total ratio of 50/50. Then style as desired and use a comb to achieve the final look - you're done!

What's the best way to wash out pomade?

Our Störtebekker solid shampoo is very effective for washing out oil-based pomade. Depending on how much pomade you use, you may need to rinse your hair multiple times.
